Colonial Heights Free Methodist Church began in 1860 as a Sunday School ministry by a teenager named Simon Witmer. That Sunday School class became a church in 1888 serving the community in downtown Niagara Falls on Weston Ave for more than 75 years. In the late 1960's the church outgrew it's building and relocated to our present facilities on Saunders Settlement Rd (Rt 31) just outside of the city. You can find more info on the Free Methodist church here.
We are a group of people committed to growing in faith together. We believe that following Jesus is the best way to live so we are learning to love God and love others. All sorts of people call Colonial Heights their church home: both young and old, blue collar and white collar, cool and not-so-cool. If you are looking to grow spiritually, chances are you'll fit in well.
People always seem to be interested in who the pastor is, but in reality a church is always so much bigger than the pastor and ours is no different. But here's some stuff about me in case you're curious:
I have been married to my best friend Deb for nearly ten years and we are blessed with three wonderful little girls. I am an avid reader and actually enjoyed the seven years I spent in college and seminary studying and preparing to be a pastor. I worked as a computer technician during school. The previous two statements classify me as a nerd and I'm ok with that. And I enjoy sports though I watch more than I play now.
We have been in Niagara Falls since the summer of 2006, but I grew up only forty-five minutes away in small town Corfu, NY. I knew that God wanted me to be a pastor before I could drive; I believe deeply that everything is spiritual so helping people connect with God and live their faith everyday is my passion.
If you want to know more we'll have to find a time to talk over a cup of coffee (preferably a Seattle-based coffee company's Gazebo Blend). Grace and peace be yours!
